Black Myth: Zhong Kui Trailers and Official Videos
This page collects every official Black Myth: Zhong Kui video in release order. The three releases so far serve different purposes: a CG announcement, an in-engine holiday short and the first gameplay showcase.
1. The gameplay demo — August 20, 2026
The first gameplay showcase arrived one year after the reveal. Its 15 minutes of in-development footage show exploration, combat, a boss fight against 大蚌真君 and a closing montage. The video introduces sword combat, paper talismans, a spirit ally and the HUD. Read our Gameplay Deep Dive for the full timestamped analysis.
2. The Chinese New Year in-engine short — February 10, 2026
Six minutes of in-engine footage released ahead of Chinese New Year (February 17) as a Year-of-the-Horse gift — and deliberately weird: a wordless, darkly comic ghost-kitchen cooking scene. Game Science flagged it at the time as a holiday special unrelated to the actual plot (CEO Feng Ji joked it had “no controls, no combat, no gameplay, no Zhong Kui — because none of that was made yet”). In hindsight it offered early glimpses of things the real demo would later confirm: talisman fire, kitchen ghosts that look suspiciously like subdued underlings, and a clam spirit resembling the eventual boss. Full unpacking: did the ghost kitchen tease a boss?; contemporaneous report: Gematsu.
3. The reveal teaser — August 20, 2025 (gamescom ONL)
Where it started: the CG teaser that closed gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 as the show's “one more thing.” No gameplay — just the announcement that the Black Myth series would continue not with Wukong DLC, but with a new hero: Zhong Kui, the Demon Queller of Chinese folklore, shown here astride a tiger (an image inspired by a Ming-dynasty painting, per the studio). English dub above; the Chinese dub is on the same channel. Full unpacking: what the teaser showed us; contemporaneous report: Xinhua.
What hasn't been shown yet
Game Science has not released a date trailer, a platform-specific trailer or a preorder video. Those milestones will appear on the Latest Updates page when the studio announces them. New official videos will also be added here.
